Does Kettering require a permit for a unit in the street?
The Kettering Engineering Department issues right-of-way construction permits, reached at 937-296-2436 or KetteringEngineering@ketteringoh.org. The Kettering permit page does not address dumpsters or portable toilets, so call Engineering before placing a unit in the street or on the tree lawn. A unit on your own driveway needs no city permit.
Kettering has no special event permit page that we could find. For a gathering in a city park, contact Kettering Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts first. Read the Kettering right-of-way construction permit page for street work rules.
This is placement guidance, not legal advice. Confirm with Kettering Engineering, the parks office or your venue.
Restrooms for Kettering graduation parties, concerts and remodels
Kettering rentals center on home events and remodels, plus gatherings near Fraze Pavilion, Delco Park, the Kettering Recreation Complex and Rosewood Arts Centre. A 150-guest Kettering graduation party lasting 3–4 hours needs 2 standard units on our planning table. If more than half the guests are women, add 1, for 3.
Worked example: a driveway graduation open house
Two or three units fit side by side at the top of a typical Kettering driveway. When food is served, add 1 handwashing station beside them. For a guest who uses a wheelchair, swap one standard unit for a wheelchair-accessible unit on the flattest part of the drive.
Construction crews at the Kettering Business Park on the former DESC site, along the Wilmington Pike corridor and near the Kettering Health main campus use 28-day units. A bathroom remodel at home usually needs 1 standard unit for the length of the job.

Placement on Kettering's rolling lots and creek valleys
Kettering terrain is rolling, cut by small creek valleys like Holes Creek and Little Beaver Creek. Backyards that drop toward a creek are often too steep and too soft for a unit. On a Kettering lot, the driveway or a flat front-yard patch near the street is usually the right spot for service.
A sloped driveway is fine with a mild grade; tell dispatch if it is steep so the unit can go on the flattest stretch. From November through March we add non-freezing treatment to tanks, and a hand sanitizer dispenser stands in for a handwashing station when temperatures drop below 32°F.

Kettering porta potty questions
Do you have a unit someone in a wheelchair can use at a Kettering party?
A wheelchair-accessible unit has a ground-level roll-in floor, a door opening about 32 inches wide and handrails. It is 62 inches wide and long, so it needs a flat driveway spot and about 66 inches of clearance through any gate. An event unit typically starts at $225, before tax; your itemized quote is final.
Can the porta potty sit on my Kettering driveway?
A driveway is the most common spot in Kettering, and it needs no city permit because it is private property. Pick a level area away from the garage door, at least 10 feet from windows and AC units when possible, and clear of low wires and tree limbs. Our service truck parks at the curb within about 25 feet.
Who handles right-of-way permits in Kettering?
The Kettering Engineering Department issues right-of-way construction permits; call 937-296-2436 or email KetteringEngineering@ketteringoh.org. Its permit page does not mention dumpsters or portable toilets, so ask Engineering before placing a unit in the street or on a tree lawn. A driveway spot avoids the question.
How far ahead should I book a restroom trailer for a Kettering wedding?
Book a restroom trailer 2–6 weeks ahead for a Kettering wedding between May and October. The two-stall trailer needs a garden-hose water connection, a dedicated 110-volt, 20-amp outlet within 100 feet and level ground. A generator and water tank can be arranged for an added charge. Event trailers typically start at $1,095 for 1–3 days, before tax; your itemized quote is final.
What happens if I need to cancel my Kettering order?
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before the scheduled delivery. Because Kettering units ride our northern route, telling us early also frees the truck for someone else. A same-day order can be cancelled free until the truck leaves the yard. See the rental terms for extensions and changes.
Does the flushing porta potty need a water or power hookup?
The deluxe flushing unit has its own fresh-water and waste tanks built in, so it needs no water line and no power. Guests use a foot pump to flush and a second foot pump for the inside sink. That makes it a good fit for a Kettering backyard with no outdoor outlet.
