What size is a standard porta potty?
A standard porta potty is 91 inches high, 43.5 inches wide and 47 inches deep, based on the PolyJohn PJN3 reference model. The inside floor is 41 by 41 inches, the seat sits 19 inches high, and the holding tank holds 60 gallons. The empty unit weighs about 175 pounds.

Will it fit through my gate?
A 48-inch gate is the working minimum. That leaves room on each side of the 43.5-inch unit for the driver's dolly and hands. The path also needs to be level and firm.
The unit must end up within about 25 feet of where our truck parks, because that is how far the vacuum hose reaches. We do not carry units through houses or garages.
Measure the gate opening, not the fence post spacing. Tell dispatch about steps, slopes or narrow side yards before delivery day.
What comes inside a standard porta potty rental in Cincinnati?
Every standard porta potty rental in Cincinnati comes with a toilet seat over a 60-gallon tank, a urinal, two rolls of toilet paper and a hand sanitizer dispenser. A translucent roof lets in daylight, a vent pipe carries odor up and out, and the door has an occupancy latch and a padlock hasp.
- Seat and tank treated with blue deodorizer
- Urinal for faster lines at parties and jobsites
- Two toilet paper rolls and a sanitizer dispenser
- Translucent roof, so no light or power is needed in daytime
- Occupancy latch shows "occupied" from outside
Colors for event units are blue, gray and pink.

How much is a standard porta potty for an event or a jobsite?
A standard porta potty for an event typically starts at $165 for up to 7 days on site. A construction unit typically starts at $150 per 28 days with weekly service included. Delivery and pickup typically start at $50 round trip per address. These are typical starting prices before tax; your itemized quote is final.

Event use versus construction use
An event unit is picked for looks: you choose the color, and it arrives freshly washed for your guests. Most weekend parties need no service during the rental.
A jobsite unit is built around the work week. Weekly service pumps the tank, sanitizes surfaces, refills deodorizer and restocks paper and sanitizer. Big crews can add a second weekly visit, quoted per visit. See construction site toilets for OSHA counts and monthly rentals for billing.
Where should a standard porta potty be placed?
Place a standard porta potty on level, firm ground such as a driveway, gravel pad or flat lawn, within about 25 feet of where the service truck can park. Keep the unit about 10 feet from windows, doors and AC intakes when possible, and away from low wires, tree limbs, septic lids and sprinkler heads.
Mark the spot with a cone, tape or a sign and you do not need to be home. A unit on a Cincinnati street or sidewalk needs a right-of-way permit from the city. The porta potty placement guide covers slopes and tight lots.

When is a standard porta potty the wrong choice?
A standard porta potty is the wrong choice when guests need wheelchair access, when food is served with no sink nearby, or when the event calls for flushing toilets. In those cases, add a wheelchair-accessible unit or a handwashing station, or move up to a deluxe unit, VIP cabin or restroom trailer.
- Wheelchair-accessible unit
Public events need at least 1 per cluster, about 5% of units.
- Handwashing station
Add 1 per 2–3 standard units when food is served.
- Deluxe flushing unit
Same footprint with a flush and a sink inside.
- Restroom trailer
Real bathrooms for weddings with water and power nearby.

Standard porta potty questions
Is the standard porta potty non-flushing?
The standard porta potty is non-flushing. Waste drops into a 60-gallon holding tank treated with blue deodorizer, and our service truck pumps it out. If you want a flush and a sink inside, the deluxe flushing porta potty uses the same footprint with a foot-pump flush.
How wide does my gate need to be to put a porta potty in the backyard?
A gate at least 48 inches wide works for a standard porta potty, which measures 43.5 inches wide. The path behind the gate needs to be level and firm, and the spot should be within about 25 feet of where our service truck can park. Units are not carried through houses or garages.
What colors do your porta potties come in?
Event standard units come in blue, gray and pink. Pink is popular for showers and graduation parties, and gray blends in at weddings. Ask for a color when you book and dispatch will note it on your order. Construction units are assigned from the jobsite fleet.
Does it come with a lock? It'll be in a public spot.
Every standard unit has an occupancy latch, plus a hasp that takes a padlock. You can add your own padlock for a park or open jobsite. If you forget to remove it, our driver cuts it off at pickup. Tell us at booking if the unit will sit in public over a weekend.
If I keep it four days, is it the same price?
Four days costs the same as one day. An event or short-term rental is one flat price for up to 7 days on site, with a typical starting price of $165 before tax for a standard unit. Past 7 days, a 28-day rental with weekly service usually makes more sense.
Can the porta potty go on the grass?
A flat, firm lawn works fine for a standard porta potty. The driver sets the unit level, keeps it off septic lids and sprinkler heads, and places it within about 25 feet of where the service truck can park. Soft, soaked ground or a steep slope needs a different spot.
